Vietnamese-Style Spring Rolls
Vietnamese-Style Spring Rolls are a popular snack and appetizer dish in Vietnamese cuisine. Made with thin rice paper wrappers, they are filled with fresh vegetables, herbs, and proteins like shrimp or pork. The rolls are typically served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce, adding to the flavor. Vietnamese-Style Spring Rolls are known for their light and refreshing taste and texture, making them a great way to start a meal. They can also be served as part of a larger meal, as a snack, or as an appetizer.
Ingredients (2 Persons)
- 1 package large spring roll wrappers (rice paper)
- 2-3 cups cooked rice vermicelli noodles
- 1 head red leaf lettuce, shredded
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
- 1/2 cup chopped peanuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
Directions
-
Step 1
Fill a shallow bowl or pie pan with warm water. One at a time, dip the spring roll wrappers into the water for about 10 seconds, or until they are pliable.
-
Step 2
Lay the wrappers on a work surface. Place a small handful of noodles, lettuce, carrots, mint, cilantro, and basil in the center of the wrapper.
-
Step 3
Fold the bottom of the wrapper over the filling, tucking the edges in to make a tight packet. Fold in the sides, and then roll up the wrapper tightly.
-
Step 4
Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling ingredients. Serve the spring rolls with hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and soy sauce for dipping.
