Thai Tom Yum Soup

Tom Yum Soup is usually served with rice or noodles, and can also include mushrooms, shrimp, chicken, or other meats. Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 4 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chili-garlic sauce
  • 2 stalks lemongrass, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 4 kaffir lime leaves
  • 4 ounces shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 ounces firm tofu, diced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

Directions

  • Step 1
    In a large pot over medium heat, bring the chicken broth, fish sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, chili-garlic sauce, lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaves to a boil.
  • Step 2
    Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Add the mushrooms, tofu, and cilantro and simmer for another 5 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Remove the lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves and serve the soup hot.
