Salmon Sushi

Salmon Sushi is a type of sushi dish made with raw salmon combined with vinegared rice. It is one of the most popular types of sushi in Japan and around the world. The salmon used is usually wild-caught, though farmed salmon may also be used. The fish is then combined with sushi rice, seasoned with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. It is then often rolled with seaweed or wrapped in an omelet. Some other common toppings for salmon sushi include pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. Salmon Sushi is an excellent source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids.

Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 4 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 400 grams fresh salmon, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 sheet nori (seaweed paper)
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 avocado, sliced

Directions

  • Step 1
In a small bowl, combine the rice vinegar, brown sugar, and salt and stir to combine.
  • Step 2
In a medium bowl, combine the cooked sushi rice and the vinegar mixture and mix until the rice is evenly coated.
  • Step 3
Lay out one sheet of nori on a sushi mat. Spread the sushi rice evenly over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  • Step 4
Lay the salmon strips in a line across the center of the nori and top with the cucumber and avocado. Lift the edge of the sushi mat closest to you and begin to roll the sushi away from you, pressing lightly as you go.
  • Step 5
Once the sushi is rolled, moisten the edge of the nori with a little water and complete the roll. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
