Red Snapper Nigiri Sushi

Red Snapper Nigiri Sushi is a classic type of sushi that is made with fresh, raw red snapper and seasoned sushi rice. Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 1/2 lb. red snapper fillet
  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

Directions

  • Step 1
    Cut the red snapper fillet into thin slices, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Step 2
    Mix together the rice vinegar, salt, sugar, mirin, and soy sauce in a small bowl.

    Place the slices of red snapper onto a plate and pour the sauce over the top. Let the fish marinate for 10 minutes.

    While the fish is marinating, prepare the sushi rice according to the instructions on the package.

    Divide the rice into 4 portions and shape into oblong mounds.
  • Step 6
    Top each mound of rice with a slice of red snapper and press lightly to hold the fish in place.

    Garnish with sesame seeds and serve.
