Miso Marinated Salmon Sushi

Miso marinated salmon sushi is a type of sushi that uses salmon marinated in miso paste. The marinade is usually composed of miso paste, soy sauce, sake, and mirin, and is left to marinate overnight. The marinated salmon is then served with sushi rice, sesame seeds, and other toppings. The marinade helps to tenderize the salmon and infuse it with a unique flavor and aroma. The result is a savory, unique sushi dish that pairs well with a variety of sauces and garnishes.

Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 4 (4-ounce) salmon fillets
  • 1/4 cup white miso paste
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sake
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 4 nori sheets
  • 1/4 cup chopped pickled ginger
  • 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds

Directions

  • Step 1
In a shallow bowl, combine the miso paste, mirin, sake, and ginger. Add the salmon fillets and turn to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours.
  • Step 2
Prepare a sushi mat by covering it with plastic wrap. Place a nori sheet on the sushi mat.
  • Step 3
Spread 1/2 cup of cooked sushi rice on top of the nori sheet, leaving a 1/2-inch border on the top and bottom. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds over the rice.
  • Step 4
Remove the salmon fillets from the marinade and place them on top of the rice. Top with pickled ginger and more sesame seeds.
  • Step 5
Roll up the nori sheet tightly, using the sushi mat, and press firmly to seal. Slice the roll into 1-inch pieces and serve.
