Korean Fried Chicken

Korean Fried Chicken, also known as KFC, is a popular fast-food dish that originated in South Korea. It is usually made with chicken pieces that are marinated in a sweet and spicy sauce and then deep-fried in vegetable oil. Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 4 lbs chicken wings, cut at the joints and tips discarded
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • 3 cups vegetable oil, for frying

Directions

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, combine the chicken wings, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, ground ginger, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat the wings evenly.
  • Step 2
    In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and cold water until a thick batter forms. Add the ice cubes and whisk until the batter is smooth.
  • Step 3
    Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F.
  • Step 4
    Working in batches, dip the chicken wings into the batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry until the wings are golden brown and crispy, about 12-14 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Remove the wings from the oil and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
