Paneer Curry

Paneer Curry is a traditional Indian dish, made with cubes of paneer (a soft cheese) cooked in a spicy tomato-based sauce. It is usually served with rice or naan bread, and can be mild or spicy, depending on preference. It is a popular dish at Indian restaurants, and can be easily made at home.

Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups paneer, cut into cubes
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Directions

  • Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the paneer cubes and cook until lightly golden, about 5 minutes.
  • Step 2
Add the onions, garlic, and ginger to the skillet and cook until the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Step 3
Stir in the coriander, cumin, turmeric, garam masala, and cardamom. Cook for 1-2 minutes, until the spices are fragrant.
  • Step 4
Add the diced tomatoes and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5-10 minutes, until the sauce has thickened.
  • Step 5
Stir in the cream and cilantro. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the paneer is cooked through and the sauce is thick and creamy.
  • Step 6
Serve the curry over cooked rice or your favorite grain.
