Maki Sushi

Maki sushi is a type of sushi roll that is made by wrapping a sheet of nori (dried seaweed) around a filling of rice and other ingredients such as fish, vegetables, and seasonings. The nori is then rolled up, cut into pieces, and served. Maki sushi is a popular type of sushi in Japan, but it is also popular in other parts of the world. Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 4 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 sheets of nori
  • 1 cucumber, cut into thin strips
  • 1 carrot, cut into thin strips
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds

Directions

  • Step 1
    In a medium bowl, combine the cooked sushi rice, rice vinegar, sugar, and salt, stirring until evenly mixed.
  • Step 2
    Lay a sheet of nori on a sushi mat. Spread 1 cup of the sushi rice onto the nori, leaving a 1-inch border along the top edge.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top of the rice. Arrange the cucumber, carrot, and avocado on top of the rice in a single layer.
  • Step 4
    Using the sushi mat, roll the nori and fillings into a tight cylinder. Cut the roll into 8 pieces and arrange them on a plate.
