Korean Bulgogi

Korean Bulgogi is a type of grilled meat dish that is popular in Korean cuisine. The word "bulgogi" literally means "fire meat" in Korean, and the dish is made by marinating thin slices of beef, pork, or chicken in a mixture of soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and other seasonings before cooking them over an open flame or in a skillet. Bulgogi is served with a variety of side dishes and can be eaten with rice, in a wrap, or in a soup. It is a popular dish in both Korean restaurants and home kitchens.

Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef sirloin or rib eye
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Directions

  • Step 1
    In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger and red pepper flakes.
  • Step 2
    Add the beef slices and marinate for 30 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the beef, reserving the marinade.
  • Step 4
    Cook the beef until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Add the reserved marinade to the skillet and cook for an additional 3 minutes, stirring to coat the beef.
