Hamachi Roll Sushi

Hamachi Roll Sushi is a type of sushi dish that originated in Japan. It consists of raw yellowtail fish (hamachi) rolled in rice and seaweed. The dish is often served as an appetizer, but it can also be enjoyed as a light meal. The combination of the fatty fish and the tangy rice makes it a very popular sushi dish. It is also often served with a side of soy sauce and wasabi for dipping.

Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 4 ounces of hamachi (yellowtail tuna)
  • 4 sheets of nori (dried seaweed)
  • 1 cup of sushi rice
  • 1 teaspoon of rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 sheet of toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 bottle of soy sauce
  • 1 bottle of wasabi paste

Directions

  • Step 1
Prepare the sushi rice according to the instructions on the package.
  • Step 2
Mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl and pour over the cooked sushi rice. Mix until the liquid is evenly distributed. Set aside to cool.
  • Step 3
Lay the nori on a cutting board or sushi mat. Spread the cooled sushi rice on top of the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
  • Step 4
Layer the avocado, cucumber, and carrot in the middle of the sushi roll. Place the hamachi on top.
  • Step 5
Fold the bottom part of the nori up over the ingredients, pressing down to help it stick.
  • Step 6
Continue rolling the sushi until it forms a tight log.
  • Step 7
Cut the roll into 8 pieces with a sharp knife.
  • Step 8
Serve the sushi with soy sauce, wasabi, and toasted sesame seeds.
