Futomaki Roll Sushi

Futomaki Roll Sushi is a type of sushi roll that originated in Japan. It is usually filled with various ingredients such as cucumber, egg, tuna, salmon, and pickled vegetables. The sushi roll is usually rolled in nori (seaweed) and is cut into bite-sized pieces. Futomaki Roll Sushi is a popular dish that can be found in many Japanese restaurants and sushi bars. Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 5 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 2 tablespoons sushi vinegar
  • 4 sheets nori (seaweed)
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 4 shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber, julienned
  • 1/2 avocado, thinly sliced
  • 4 sheets of toasted nori (seaweed)
  • 4 tablespoons sesame seeds

Directions

  • Step 1
    Mix the cooked sushi rice with the sushi vinegar in a large bowl. Set aside and let cool to room temperature.
  • Step 2
    Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi rolling mat. Spread 1/4 of the sushi rice evenly over the nori, leaving a 1/2-inch border at the top.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sesame seed over the sushi rice. Place a few strips of carrots, mushrooms, cucumber, and avocado in a single row along the center of the nori.
  • Step 4
    Lift the bottom edge of the sushi mat and roll it over the filling. Press firmly with your fingers to make sure the roll is tight, then continue to roll the mat until you reach the end of the nori.
  • Step 5
    Wet the edge of the nori with a little water to help seal the roll, then cut into 8 pieces with a sharp knife.
