White Tuna Nigiri Sushi

White Tuna Nigiri Sushi is a popular type of sushi in Japan. It is made with raw white tuna, also known as shiro maguro, that is lightly seared and placed on a bed of sushi rice. The sushi rice is seasoned with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. This type of sushi is usually served with pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 1 pound fresh tuna
  • 3 tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 2 cups cooked Japanese sticky rice
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 sheets nori seaweed

Directions

  • Step 1
    Cut the tuna into four equal slices.
  • Step 2
    Place the sesame seeds on a plate and press the tuna slices into the sesame seeds. Make sure the sesame seeds stick to the tuna.
  • Step 3
    In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, vinegar and salt. Mix until combined.
  • Step 4
    Lay one sheet of nori on a sushi rolling mat. Wet your fingers with water and spread a thin layer of the rice mixture onto the nori.
  • Step 5
    Place one piece of tuna in the center of the nori. Roll the sushi mat up to form a cylinder. Cut the sushi into four equal pieces.
