Temaki Hand Roll Sushi

Temaki Hand Roll Sushi is a type of sushi that has become increasingly popular in recent years. It is made by rolling up a variety of ingredients, usually including seafood, vegetables, and sometimes other ingredients such as cream cheese or mayonnaise, in a sheet of nori seaweed. The nori sheet is then rolled into a cone shape, with the ingredients sticking out from the top. Temaki Hand Roll Sushi is usually served cold, and is often eaten with chopsticks or fingers. It is a great way to enjoy sushi in a fun and interactive way, as the ingredients can be customized to the diner's preference.

Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 4 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Nori sheets
  • 1/2 avocado, sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber, sliced
  • 4 ounces smoked salmon, sliced
  • 1/4 cup pickled ginger
  • 1/4 cup pickled daikon radish
  • 1/4 cup wasabi mayonnaise

Directions

  • Step 1
In a small saucepan, heat the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt over low heat. Stir until the sugar and salt dissolve. Remove from heat and pour over the cooked sushi rice. Gently fold the mixture together until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Step 2
Lay a nori sheet on a cutting board. Place a scoop of prepared sushi rice on the nori, leaving a 1-inch margin on the bottom and sides of the nori. Arrange slices of avocado, cucumber, and smoked salmon on top of the rice.
  • Step 3
Fold the bottom of the nori sheet up over the filling. With your fingers, firmly press the nori to shape the temaki into a cone. Serve with pickled ginger, pickled daikon radish, and wasabi mayonnaise.
