Salmon Sashimi

Salmon sashimi is a Japanese delicacy consisting of thin slices of raw salmon. It is usually served with soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger, and may be garnished with shiso leaves. It is often served as an appetizer or part of a sushi platter. Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 4 fillets of fresh salmon (4 ounces each)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (Japanese sweet cooking wine)
  • 1 teaspoon wasabi paste
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Directions

  • Step 1
    Cut the salmon into thin slices, about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Step 2
    In a small bowl, mix together the ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, mirin, and wasabi paste.
  • Step 3
    Arrange the salmon slices on a plate and spoon the sauce over the top. Sprinkle with the toasted sesame seeds.
  • Step 4
    Serve chilled or at room temperature.
