Malaysian Roti Canai

Ingredients (2 Persons)
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup warm water
- vegetable oil, for cooking

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, salt, and sugar.

Add the melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

Slowly add the warm water, a few tablespoons at a time, stirring with a fork until the dough starts to come together.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.

Cover the dough balls with a damp cloth and let them rest for 30 minutes.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add enough vegetable oil to lightly coat the pan.

One at a time, press each dough ball into a thin circle and carefully place it in the hot skillet.

Cook the roti for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crisp.
