Korean-Style Fried Chicken

Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 4 chicken thighs, bone in and skin on
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Oil, for frying

Directions

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, gochujang, sesame oil, soy sauce, and sugar. Mix until well combined.
  • Step 2
    Add the egg and mix until everything is incorporated. The batter should be thick and sticky.
  • Step 3
    Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add enough oil to coat the bottom of the skillet.
  • Step 4
    Dip each chicken thigh into the batter, making sure to coat it completely. Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until it is golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  • Step 5
    Serve the fried chicken with a side of rice and your favorite vegetables.
