Chinese Five Spice Tofu

Chinese Five Spice Tofu is a beloved dish in Chinese cuisine. It consists of cubed tofu that is marinated in a mixture of Chinese five-spice powder, garlic, soy sauce, ginger, and sesame oil. The tofu is then stir-fried in a wok until it’s golden brown and crispy. The dish is often served with steamed vegetables, rice, or noodles. Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese Five Spice powder
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 blocks extra-firm tofu, drained and cubed

Directions

  • Step 1
    Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and ginger and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Step 2
    Add the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, Chinese Five Spice powder, and sesame oil to the skillet and stir to combine.
  • Step 3
    Add the tofu cubes to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tofu is golden brown and crispy.
  • Step 4
    Serve the tofu with steamed rice and your favorite vegetables.
