Chinese Dumplings

Chinese dumplings are a popular food item in Chinese cuisine. They are small, bite-sized pieces of dough filled with a variety of savory ingredients such as pork, beef, vegetables, and spices. Dumplings can be steamed, boiled, or pan-fried and are often served with a dipping sauce. Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped Chinese cabbage
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped

Directions

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, Chinese cabbage, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, white pepper, and green onions.
  • Step 2
    Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions. Working with one portion at a time, roll the mixture into a ball and flatten it into a disc shape.
  • Step 3
    Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of the disc. Gently fold the edges of the disc up and around the filling to close the dumpling.
  • Step 4
    Repeat with the remaining portions of the filling. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the dumplings. Cook until the edges are golden brown, about 2 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and cover with a lid. Steam the dumplings for 3-4 minutes, until the filling is cooked through.
