Korean Fried Cauliflower

Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 cups vegetable oil, for frying

Directions

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, ginger, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
  • Step 2
    Add the cold water to the dry ingredients and whisk until combined. The batter should be thick and slightly lumpy.
  • Step 3
    Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Working in batches, dip the cauliflower florets into the batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry the florets for 3-5 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Step 4
    Remove the fried cauliflower from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb the excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
