Alaska Roll Sushi

The Alaska Roll Sushi is a popular sushi roll in the United States. It was created in the 1970s in California and is said to be the first American sushi roll. The Alaska Roll consists of salmon, cucumber, and avocado, topped with a spicy mayo or eel sauce. The Alaska Roll has become popular in North America and is a staple in many sushi restaurants.

Ingredients (2 Persons)

  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 4 sheets of nori seaweed
  • 1/2 avocado, sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 4 teaspoons Sriracha (optional)

Directions

  • Step 1
    Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat, shiny side down.
  • Step 2
    Spread 1/2 cup of cooked white rice over the nori, leaving a 1/2 inch border on the top edge.
  • Step 3
    Layer the avocado, cucumber, and any other desired ingredients in the center of the nori.
  • Step 4
    Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1 teaspoon of Sriracha (optional) over the ingredients.
  • Step 5
    Roll the sushi away from you, pressing firmly, until the top edge of the nori is touching the roll.
